Alpha Rising: KPMG CEO Lynne Doughtie on Diversity

Words like “inclusion” and “diversity” are commonplace buzzwords these days. The solutions, though, are not as obvious.

Mainly because there isn’t a one-size-fits all solution so it is super important for women – and men – to speak up and let management know what they need, said Lynne Doughtie, KPMG U.S. Chairman and CEO in her interview with Alpha Rising.

Doughtie has been with the firm for 33 years, but she was made Chair and CEO back in 2015 and has been an integral part of creating an inclusive environment.

The movement to attract and retain talented women and minorities remains on the forefront on the firm’s agenda and as a result, has earned KPMG spots on the Working Mother 100 Best Companies, the National Association of Female Executives Top Companies for Executive Women and in the top 5 of the Best Companies for Multicultural Women lists.

Actually, all the “Big Four” accounting firms generally make those lists. (The Big Four are Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC.)

Doughtie is one of three women now at the helm of those “Big Four” firms in the U.S. EY and Deloitte also have powerhouse women running their U.S. Operations now.

And KPMG is on a mission to get more women up to that C-Suite.

The firm actually sponsors a Women’s Leadership Summit that helps the next generation of women leaders advance to the top.
