Helping clients successfully navigate life’s major turning points so that they can live life to its fullest is her mission. As a managing director leading the Leesburg, Virginia office, she provides the highest level of expertise to her clients with her extensive financial background.

Bonnie specializes in exits. Whether someone is leaving paid work, a spouse, or selling a business, Bonnie shepherds clients through these financial and life transitions. She is nationally recognized for her expertise in divorce financial planning, preparing expert testimony for private arbitration and court cases relating to divorce. Furthermore, she assists in conducting mediation and private negotiations, including lifestyle analysis, net worth projections, income on assets, working capital, tax impact, income & spending, and financial impact of a particular scenario.

Prior to joining Dakota, Bonnie built three businesses, a tax service and two Registered Investment Advisory firms, most recently American Capital Planning, which Dakota acquired in October 2021.

After completing her BS in Family Economics & Management from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and an MS in Financial Planning from the College of Financial Planning, Bonnie achieved designation as both a Certified Financial PlannerTM, Certified Divorce Financial AnalystTM, Accredited Investment Fiduciary®, and Certified Exit Planning Advisor®.

Bonnie has served on the national Board of Directors for the Financial Planning Association and the South Region Board of Directors for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. She is a past President on the Board of Directors for the non-profit Loudoun Therapeutic Riding. Currently, she serves her local community through the Board of Directors of Oatlands.org, a National Trust & Historic site, and she is a board member on the Association of Divorce Financial Planners board, a membership organization for expert financial professionals committed to helping clients and attorneys navigate the financial and tax consequences of divorce.

Committed to living her own life to its fullest, Bonnie devotes time to her grandkids, grandniece and grandnephew, cooking for friends & family, growing food, rowing, hiking, golf, and travel to new countries and states.
