CFP®, RICP®, MBA, MPhil, Financial Planner
Around 2016, after a decades-long career in International Corporate Finance, Banking & Financial Services, Julio Lopez-Brito started contemplating a gradual transition into early retirement. Lopez-Brito was soon faced with the many challenges of planning for, and living in, retirement and saw an opportunity for repurposing his extensive financial background, professional and personal experience to help others like him plan and manage their finances for and during retirement.
The most rewarding thing Julio finds about this newfound calling is empowering people with the necessary knowledge and tools to guide them in making better personal financial decisions with more confidence and independence.
To round his professional skills and credentials as a financial advisor focused on retirement planning, he obtained the CFP® as well as the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designations from the American College of Financial Services complementing MBA and MPhil. degrees in Finance from NYU Stern. He is also an Enrolled Agent admitted to practice before the IRS.
Aside from his professional activities, Julio has also been actively involved with the local retiree community as a volunteer instructor and advisory council member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at The University of Miami; a committee member of United Way’s “Continue United” initiative for Miami’s 55+ community and as a volunteer certified tax preparer with the AARP Tax-Aide.
Before joining Sensible Money, Julio was a Financial Advisor with Portfolio Resources Advisors Group in Miami, Florida.
Julio’s favorite way to play is in the kitchen, cooking for family and friends, and taking long weekend walks and training at the gym with his wife, Jennifer.
