Electric cars are gaining ground in the U.S. as more drivers abandon gas stations in favor of charging stations.
Americans bought 1.3 million electric vehicles in 2024, a new record, according to Kelly Blue Book.
EVs made up 8.7% of all new cars sold in the U.S. in 2024, KBB reported.
The 2 best-sellers were Teslas, but the company has lost ground as competition grows, selling 37,000 fewer cars in 2024 than in 2023.
As more models enter the market, Cox Automotive predicts that EVs could exceed 10% of all new cars sold in 2025.

Data from iSeeCars shows the two Teslas also lead in used EV sales, followed by the Chevy Bolt, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Chevy Bolt EUV.
