Pandemic-Related Issues Fraud and Household Goods Top Consumer Complaints: The Consumer Federation of America (CFA) released a report on the top 10 consumer complaints. The report found that the top three complaints were:
- Pandemic-related issues, such as price gouging, refunds for canceled events and travel, and financial issues.
- Fraud, such as bogus sweepstakes and lotteries, work-at-home schemes, grant offers, fake check scams, and imposter scams.
- Household goods, such as misrepresentations, failure to deliver, and repair issues in connection with furniture and major appliances.
Other top complaints included retail sales, travel, health products and services, and internet sales.
The report also found that state and local consumer protection agencies recovered over $740 million for consumers in 2022.
